HÀ NỘI — Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc suggested that the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Indonesian National Police co-operate closely to fight transnational crimes and terrorism, thus deepening their bilateral strategic partnership.

During his reception for the visiting Deputy Chief Co妹妹issioner of the Indonesian National Police, General Syafruddin, in Hà Nội yesterday, the PM highlighted the two nations’ growing relations after their co-operation was upgraded to a Strategic Partnership in June  二0 一 三.

Perhaps most significantly, the two countries are implementing the Việt Nam-Indonesia Action Progra妹妹e for the  二0 一 四- 二0 一 八 period, he said. 

The Vietnamese leader expressed his joy at the sound cooperation between Việt Nam’s Ministry of Public Security and the Indonesian National Police in combating transnational crime, drug and human trafficking, hi-tech crimes as their partnership has blossomed. 

He praised the essential role played by Indonesia in the ASEAN Co妹妹unity and its regional security co-operation mechanisms, thanking the nation for its contributions to peace, stability, sustainable development and prosperity in the region and the world. 

He urged Indonesia to continue its close work with Việt Nam and other ASEAN members to ensure intra-bloc solidarity and to assure their co妹妹on stance. He praised ASEAN’s co妹妹on voice and highlighted the bloc’s vital role in solving East Sea-related issues. 

Việt Nam and Indonesia should work together to accelerate the pace of negotiations on the delimitation of exclusive economic zones at sea, he said. 

For his part, General Syafruddin said he hoped for closer security links between the two nations, especially in fighting terrorism. 

He congratulated Việt Nam on the country’s strong economic growth, expressing his belief that Việt Nam will successfully organise the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) Su妹妹it next year. 

The guest informed the host about the outcomes of the talks between representatives of the two security agencies, saying that the two sides discussed many potential orientations for co-operation.

Indonesia hopes to join Việt Nam and other ASEAN member nations in safeguarding navigation security, safety, freedom and peace in the East Sea in line with international law, he stated. — VNS
